Dr. David Sunu

Dr. David Sunu is a medical doctor, healthcare executive, and digital health leader with over fifteen years of experience spanning clinical practice, medical insurance, digital health innovation, and health systems leadership across Africa and international markets. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Ridge Medical Center, where he provides strategic leadership in institutional growth, clinical quality, operational excellence, and patient-centered care delivery.
Prior to joining Ridge Medical Center, Dr. Sunu served as Chief Operations Officer at Nationwide Medical Insurance, where he led initiatives in clinical governance, claims quality, provider engagement, and healthcare cost optimization. He previously held the position of Global Chief Medical Officer at Milvik BIMA, overseeing mobile health and telemedicine strategy across multiple countries including Ghana, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania. He also served as Country Manager for Redbird Inc., driving the adoption of digital health records and community pharmacy-based healthcare solutions in Ghana. Earlier in his career, he spent five years with BIMA Ghana as Chief Medical Officer and Head of Telemedicine Services, where he established and scaled telemedicine operations and also served on the Board of Milvik Ghana Limited.
Dr. Sunu began his clinical career as a Resident Medical Officer at Urgent Care Hospital in Accra, following his training as a House Officer at Eastern Regional Hospital and 37 Military Hospital. He has also contributed to medical education as a part-time lecturer at the School of Social Work and Pentecost University. He holds an MBA from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, an LLB from the University of London, an MBChB from the University of Ghana Medical School, and a Bachelor of Medical Science from the University of Ghana. His multidisciplinary background uniquely positions him to lead healthcare institutions with a strong balance of clinical expertise, commercial acumen, governance awareness, and innovation-driven leadership.
